Trip to England

In June, I went to Europe with my mom, and Aunt and this post is a continuation of my last travel post. I will have one more post to share about the three countries we visited. With today's post, I will be talking about England, and I have a few pictures to share!

Us with a phone booth because why not!

We saw so many cool things while in England as we traveled to London (where we spend most of our time), Bath, Stonehenge, and Nottingham. I think my favorite place to visit was Bath, we stayed in a little bed and breakfast (the Dorian House), and I highly recommend it https://www.dorianhouse.co.uk/. The whole town is so pretty, and I wish I would have taken more pictures of it but, I was too busy living in the moment.

While we were in London, we saw so many World War II memorials, which was so great for me because this is my favorite time period to study. It was good to see how the UK memorializes people in history, and while looking at all of the memorials, I kept wishing the United States would follow suit.

While in London we went to some museums like the British Museum (which I cried in when I walked in. It was so beautiful), and the National Gallery.

We also visited castles, like Kensington, Windsor (which the Queen was staying while we toured), and the Tower of London. They were all so pretty, and I could definitely live in one.

The Trip to Stonehenge was fascinating as it was right in the middle of some guy's field. There were sheep, and cows all around the site and coming from the Midwest, this just seemed funny.

The last place we visited was the cute little city of the famous Nottingham, home to Robin Hood!

Thank you all for bearing with this glorified photo dump.

Have a great day!

Top Ten Classic Books I Recommend

Today we are stepping away from history for a minute, because I want to talk about some of my favorite classics. I have always had a special spot in my heart for classic reads ever since I can remember, I loved to curl up with a classic on the front porch and read the summer afternoon away. So I thought I would recommend my top ten classics to read in no particular order.   1. Mansfield Park by Jane Austen  This novel is by far my favorite Jane Austen work, so much so that I name my late cat after the main character Fanny Price. This novel is about an impoverished girl who goes to live with her wealthy family and is treated horribly. During this time, Fanny starts to have feelings for one of her cousins, who has treated her well despite the other family members’ treatment of her. I love this book simply because of the romance between the two cousins. This book also tackles some of the social problems of this time very critically which I find quite brave of Austen. I hig...

June Reading Wrap Up

Since traveling to Europe in June, I could not read as much as I would have liked; but I still completed some great books that I am excited to share with you. I will give a brief description, my rating, and my thoughts about the books I read.  If you want updates on what I am reading, follow me on Goodreads, where I try to keep my shelved books and current reads up to date.  https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/122472933-savanah For June, I was able to read seven books (not too bad, if I say so myself).   The First Book I completed was Reflection by Elizabeth Lim.    This book is one of the Disney twisted retellings that came out in the last few years. I was a little skeptical about this book because I am such a huge Disney fan; however, Lim did not disappoint. In this work, we follow Mulan as she must go to the Underworld to save General Shang's life; she faces many struggles and has help from a few new sidekicks. I highly recommend reading t...

5 Non-Romance Books

I love to read a cute romance book, but every once in a while, I crave a book that a character does not find their true love or love is not even mentioned in the book. So to celebrate the singles in the world such as myself. Here are my top five non-romance books.   Fawkes by Nadine Brandes   Fawkes is a historical fiction book with a hint of fantasy that follows Guy Fawkes’s son (Thomas) as he tries to find his father to receive the most significant honor the Igniters have their mask. Their mask are essential as whatever color mask is given to the child of an Igniter is the color they can control (so if you have a blue mask, you can control any blue object like water, grey would control things like stone, and so on). However, the people of this time are dealing with a severe plague called the Stone Plague which Thomas has in his eye. Thomas must find his father to get his mask and hopefully pardon himself from the plague he has contracted. But when Thomas meets...
