My Trip to Ireland

This will be my last travel in Europe post as we have reached Ireland, the last country of our trip. Where I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Ireland, it was probably my least favorite country to visit. My mom, aunt, and I stayed in Dublin and took a few tours to see more prominent tourist attractions such as the Cliffs of Moher and the Giant Causeway. Although there is some beautiful scenery, I thought Ireland was not always well organized in preserving ancient artifacts and keeping humanity. Now I live in America, where we have many problems with social warfare and homelessness; however, while in Dublin, I was heartbroken to see many people out of work and on the streets. Living in a small village in the Midwest, I don’t see many homeless individuals, but in Dublin, several tents and people were begging, which was hard to see. Also, Dublin was by far the dirtiest city I have been to (and that is saying a lot). The smell was horrible, and the number of people littering was insane. I have never seen people finish a candy bar and then just throw it on the ground instead of a trashcan. Regardless, we had a good time, but I will not return.

One of the first trips we took was to the cliffs of Moher. This site is beautiful, and below is a picture of the cliffs. We were lucky enough to have a clear day to see the cliffs in all their glory.

Our last trip out of Dublin was to the Giant Causeway. This was my favorite place to visit in Ireland because I love volcanos and the hexagon-shaped rocks are such an astonishing volcanic phenomenon.

While not traveling around, we stayed in Dublin and explored the city’s churches and pubs.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Europe, and I can not wait to go again.

Have a great day,

Savanah

Top Ten Classic Books I Recommend

Today we are stepping away from history for a minute, because I want to talk about some of my favorite classics. I have always had a special spot in my heart for classic reads ever since I can remember, I loved to curl up with a classic on the front porch and read the summer afternoon away. So I thought I would recommend my top ten classics to read in no particular order.   1. Mansfield Park by Jane Austen  This novel is by far my favorite Jane Austen work, so much so that I name my late cat after the main character Fanny Price. This novel is about an impoverished girl who goes to live with her wealthy family and is treated horribly. During this time, Fanny starts to have feelings for one of her cousins, who has treated her well despite the other family members’ treatment of her. I love this book simply because of the romance between the two cousins. This book also tackles some of the social problems of this time very critically which I find quite brave of Austen. I hig...

June Reading Wrap Up

Since traveling to Europe in June, I could not read as much as I would have liked; but I still completed some great books that I am excited to share with you. I will give a brief description, my rating, and my thoughts about the books I read.  If you want updates on what I am reading, follow me on Goodreads, where I try to keep my shelved books and current reads up to date.  https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/122472933-savanah For June, I was able to read seven books (not too bad, if I say so myself).   The First Book I completed was Reflection by Elizabeth Lim.    This book is one of the Disney twisted retellings that came out in the last few years. I was a little skeptical about this book because I am such a huge Disney fan; however, Lim did not disappoint. In this work, we follow Mulan as she must go to the Underworld to save General Shang's life; she faces many struggles and has help from a few new sidekicks. I highly recommend reading t...

5 Non-Romance Books

I love to read a cute romance book, but every once in a while, I crave a book that a character does not find their true love or love is not even mentioned in the book. So to celebrate the singles in the world such as myself. Here are my top five non-romance books.   Fawkes by Nadine Brandes   Fawkes is a historical fiction book with a hint of fantasy that follows Guy Fawkes’s son (Thomas) as he tries to find his father to receive the most significant honor the Igniters have their mask. Their mask are essential as whatever color mask is given to the child of an Igniter is the color they can control (so if you have a blue mask, you can control any blue object like water, grey would control things like stone, and so on). However, the people of this time are dealing with a severe plague called the Stone Plague which Thomas has in his eye. Thomas must find his father to get his mask and hopefully pardon himself from the plague he has contracted. But when Thomas meets...
